Queen’s Scout/Gold DofE Award Expeditions - August 2022
8th March 2022 - 24th August 2022
19th to 24th August 2022
What is it?
This is a 5night camp in the Lake District, where participants will undertake 1 day of training, with a 3-day Gold DofE/QSA practice expedition in wild country terrain or complete a 4 day Gold DofE/QSA assessed expedition. Each team is led by an experienced Supervisor who has responsibility for their walking and safety in the hills.
The location for the event will be starting from our base in Serbergham Cumbria and campsites and route will be organised by the teams themselves.
Participants will need to be self-sufficient for the duration of the event, providing all equipment (a list will be provided at the Shake Down Hike) and food to cook for themselves. Self-sufficiency also includes organising their own travel to and from the area (we will advise on good public transport options, and we can provide local transport between train/coach stations and the start/finish of the event).
How do we prepare:
Prior to the expedition, we will meet virtually and undertake a training hike to look at kit and food. During this event, teams will plan their expedition and go through the requirements for the event. Dates will be issued after Easter.
How much does it cost?
The cost is £100, this includes training, all camp fees, booking of a Supervisor/Assessor for the event and training materials. Food and travel are not included in this cost. Participants will need to make their own way to and from the Lake District and to/from our training event. .
This is payable via bank transfer or by bank card, details of which will be given upon sign up.
How do we sign up?
That is the easy part! We have an online form for you to complete with all your personal details and instructions on how to make payment. The form can be found here: https://www.cognitoforms.com/S...
Bookings will close on 23rd May 2022.
